Aurelia’s Garden is a community of passionate and dedicated volunteers growing fresh and nutritious produce to donate to people in need to address local food insecurity.
About Us
2024 Initiatives:
As always, our primary goal is to GROW MORE FOOD!
Resource Sharing to reduce economic barriers to growing food
Seed Sharing - We have started a seed library to save seeds from vegetables, herbs, and flowers we grow. These will be freely shared through food pantries, local libraries, and church and community centers.
Seedling donations - grow and donate vegetable seedlings.
Potted herb donations - we have begun donating various potted culinary herbs.
Research: A strong food system starts with access to strong seed varieties adapted for our local growing conditions and resilient to a changing climate. Aurelia’s Garden is actively participating in research to:
Conduct variety trials and report results back to the farming community and through our website and social media outlets
Breed new vegetable varieties that are more resilient and adapted to our changing climate
Adapt existing varieties to be more robust and able to thrive under tough growing conditions
Aurelia’s Garden as a model for like-minded groups
Provide mentorship to other budding volunteer farms
Deliver workshops freely to community groups about growing food
Provide how-to guides on our website, social media, and through conferences and other community events
