  • About Us

Big Brothers Big Sisters of Western North Carolina is a United Way agency. We have been serving young people in Western North Carolina since 1982, and in that time have created over 11,712 life changing matches. We currently cover nine counties, matching children (ages 6-14) from single-parent families with caring, adult mentors. More mentors are needed in the nine counties.

“Bigs” and “Littles” spend time together forming a friendship. In our traditional program, they participate in activities in our community like hiking on the parkway, playing ball, or baking cookies. In our site-based program, Bigs and Littles see each other at the child’s school or after-school program. They spend time playing games, completing homework, and having lunch together.
