About Us

The Law Students in Action Project is a project of Legal Assistance of Western New York (LAWNY), which is a public interest law firm receiving LSC funding. We are a tax exempt organization. We provide volunteer opportunities for law students with public interest law firms who participate in our project. In addition to internships during the school year and a summer associate program, we offer students opportunities to provide research assistance and Spanish translation assistance to our various offices. The goal of our project is to encourage law students to provide pro bono services within their communities and pursue a career in public interest law. Through the use of law student volunteers, the public interest offices are better able to serve their communities and in some cases, are able to expand the amount of services and the level of these services that they are able to provide clients. The offices we serve provide legal services to low income individuals.
