PAVE AmeriCorps Members support tutoring and wellness programming in Eldon, Missouri.
Tutors with PAVE AmeriCorps teach what they love, share what they know, and open eyes, minds, and hearts! They serve as a positive adult role model, develop relationships, and form meaningful connections with students while helping them with reading, English, math, social studies, or science. Tutors utilize different teaching strategies to reach struggling students and help them develop the skills and enthusiasm to be a lifelong learners. Positions are available in preschool through twelfth grade, and the alternative high school.
Wellness Coaches exercise their passion
every day! Wellness Coaches support physical activity and
nutrition education programming for students in kindergarten through eighth
grade. They engage students in lunchtime nutrition education, alternative recess
games and activities, provide “brain breaks,” support physical education
classes, and participate in before- and after-school intramurals like walking
club, running club, volleyball, basketball, archery, and wrestling. This holistic
approach to wellness is designed to teach through play, introduce and reinforce
healthier lifestyle choices, and make wellness fun.
AmeriCorps is administered by the Corporation for National and Community Service, which also oversees Senior Corps and Learn and Serve America. It is part of USA Freedom Corps, a White House initiative to foster a culture of citizenship, service, and responsibility, and help all Americans answer the President's Call to Service.
