The Center for Women in Transition

CWT is a dynamic, stable agency providing premier, comprehensive services that address homelessness and domestic violence. A Woman's Place, founded in 1971 as the first domestic shelter in Illinois, is the Domestic Violence Services Program of The Center for Women in Transition. Transitions Resale Store is a retail clothing store located in Lincoln Square Mall and open to the public. Transitions is a job-training site, and source of income for CWT.

Our mission: The Center for Women in Transition provides a continuum of services so that individuals and families can acheive safety, stability, and self-sufficiency.
