Cavalla Historical Foundation


  • Mission

    The Cavalla Historical Foundation (CHF) is a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization with the responsibility of support and operations of Galveston Naval Museum/ American Undersea Warfare Center (GNM/AUWC) located at Seawolf Park in Galveston, TX. CHF currently manages all visitor experiences, military appreciation ceremonies, and maintenance and restoration functions for GNM.

    About Us

    Responsibilities and support include public display and touring aboard the USS Cavalla (Gato-class Hunter/Killer Submarine) and the USS Stewart (Edsell-class Destroyer Escort) museum ships, the sail of the USS Tautog (Nuclear-powered Attack Submarine), the USS Seawolf Memorial, the Veteran’s Memorial Plaza - dedicated to all lost submarines and submariners, along with all other non-fixed, undersea-warfare artifacts accumulated and donated to the foundation.

    The USS Cavalla and the USS Stewart retain a rich and valuable history as both are acknowledged and named in the National List of Historical Places by the United States Department of the Interior.
