About Us

The mission of the United Arts Council of Raleigh and Wake County, to build better communities through support and advocacy of the arts, has three foci: to champion arts education; to support access to the arts throughout Wake County; and to build capacity for the local arts community. These priorities are achieved through grants to organizations, schools, communities and individual artists, and by providing arts in education opportunities and programming, arts programming, and arts services throughout Wake County.

Organized in 1962 as the Raleigh Cultural Center, the organization was incorporated as the United Arts Council of Raleigh and Wake County in 1990 as a result of the merger of the Wake County Arts Council and the Capital Area Arts Foundation. As an umbrella fundraising organization, United Arts raises money from government agencies, corporations, foundations, individuals, sponsorships, and ticket sales.
