About Us

Brite Divinity School is a progressive, ecumenical graduate theological school related to the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ). Located on the campus of Texas Christian University in Fort Worth, Texas, Brite is a beacon in the Southwest for transformative vision and unconditional hospitality. The school is known for its distinguished faculty of teacher-scholars, care for community, and commitment to social justice.

Every program and every aspect of life at Brite is touched by the school’s guiding core values:

  • SCHOLARSHIP that engages church, academy, and public life;
  • JUSTICE that enhances diversity, flourishing, and wholeness;
  • PRACTICE that enlivens intellectual, spiritual, and professional growth.

“This is a theology that is open and not fixed; creative and imaginative and not traditional and safe; inclusive and discerning while trying not to be judgmental; it asks more questions than it answers; it trusts the wisdom of others and yet brings the tools of disciplined critical reflection to bear on all that is said or thought.”

“This community values relatedness that is built around such lived qualities as honesty, grace, openness, curiosity, and passion. As we continue to foster these qualities in our community, everyone who encounters Brite is changed.” –Dean Joretta Marshall
