  • Mission

The Fox River Trolley Museum is dedicated to preserving and interpreting the electric railroad heritage of the Fox River Valley and the greater Chicago region.

    About Us

The Fox River Trolley Museum gives families and young children to chance to enjoy rides on antique selfpropelled electric railroad passenger trains. These trains, commonly called trolleys, operate over a 2-mile long demonstration railroad called the "Aurora Elgin and Fox River Electric Company." The oldest part of the railroad dates back to 1896 and extends along the Fox River from South Elgin, IL to Coleman Grove, IL. The newest part of the railroad dates back to 2002 and connects the old trolley line at Coleman Grove to the center of Kane County’s Jon J. Duerr Forest Preserve. The collection consists of 28-railroad vehicles built between 1887 and 1959.
