Citizen Schools California

About Us

Citizen Schools is a national education non-profit that provides after-school apprenticeships for low-income middle school students. Our organization mobilizes a second shift of afternoon educators, who provide academic support, leadership development, and "apprenticeships" - hands-on projects taught by volunteers from business and civic organizations. Volunteers spend one to two afternoons per week at middle schools, teaching a variety of relevant subjects - mock trials, Android app coding, editorial writing...you name it!

Our program was founded twenty years ago in Boston, and has since expanded to 44 campuses in the US, including eight campuses in the Bay Area - six in San Jose and two in Oakland.

If you want to teach what you love while helping students reach their potential, then Citizen Schools is the place for you! Visit our website to sign up: http://www.citizenschools.org/volunteer/
