    WASH United (http://www.wash-united.org), a registered non-profit limited liability company (gGmbH) in Berlin, is an international coalition of national and international civil society organizations, United Nations agencies, governments and leading actors from the world of sport. Together, we harness the positive passion for sport, games and the role model status of stars to promote safe drinking WAter, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) for all. Key partners include GIZ, WSSCC, WaterAid, Bayern Munich and BMZ.

    WASH United has three main work-streams:

    1. Exciting game-based WASH in Schools programs, that allow children to experience the importance of WASH through interactive play and fun, rather than through passive teaching;
    2. Innovative, positive and exciting sport and celebrity based public awareness raising campaigns to tackle taboos related to sanitation and hygiene and raise the overall profile of these issues;
    3. Media work around our WASH in schools and campaigning activities to multiply the reach of our messages.

    WASH United has received broad international recognition for its success in promoting sanitation and hygiene in Africa, including the AMCOW AfricaSan 2011 Media Award and the 2011 Global Sports Forum Award.
