Baden Street Settlement

About Us

Baden Street Settlement is one of the largest community outreach institution in Rochester and one of the oldest in the United States. Established to assist immigrants and low-income citizens, Baden Street Settlement is a product of a turn-of-the-twentieth century reformist social movement. Founded in 1901 by the pioneering efforts of two members of the B’rith Kodesh Temple, Therese Katz and Fannie Garson and based in northeast Rochester, Baden Street Settlement works to improve the quality of life of adults, children and families; to pursue the elimination of the causes of poverty; and to reduce the level of negative social problems associated with being poor and disadvantaged. The Agency works in cooperative, collaborative, and supportive spirit with concerned agencies in the community to meet the needs of neighborhood residents.
