University of Illinois at Chicago Development
UIC is the largest public research university in the Chicago area with 25,000 students and 12,000 faculty and staff in 15 colleges. The alumni base totals more than 175,000. Located just west of downtown Chicago, the campus is located in a neighborhood which has seen dramatic transformation into a high demand residential community over the last decade. Once a total commuter campus, UIC now has nearly 4,000 students living on campus, and almost one-half of all students walk to class.
University and campus leadership have identified philanthropy as a critical need in the future direction of the institution. As such, the University of Illinois is in the midst of its largest campaign in history. Entitled the Brilliant Futures Campaign, the system-wide effort has a $2.25 billion goal by 2011. The UIC campus goal is $650 million.
