CO Companion Animal Sanctuary

  • Mission

CCAS offers lifetime care and rehab for cats with special needs considered unadoptable. Outreach services for homeless cats and guardians are also available, including education and training, linkage to resources, TNR and rehoming, when possible.

    About Us

Lifetime Care for Special Needs Cats: Our primary objective is to care for cats with manageable or treatable conditions that are considered unadoptable. In some cases, these cats need time to rehab before moving to an adoptive home. Most will live at the sanctuary as long as their quality of life is good. Over 85% of our cats are under 5 years old, so it is a long-term commitment as they are expected to live a normal lifespan.

Spay and Neuter Program for Rescued Cats: As an agency and animal advocates, reducing pet overpopulation is an area we are greatly concerned about. Part of our outreach program in Bailey and the surrounding area includes assisting people who rescue homeless pets in obtaining neuter and spay services. CCAS is partnering with Crow Hill Pet Hospital in Bailey to offer this program as funds permit.

Rehoming and Adoption Services: Another resource CCAS provides is adoption assistance to facilitate rehoming pets that need to be moved due to unforeseen circumstances, with priority given to special needs pets and pet guardians. These services are offered on a case-by-case basis, with no guarantee of placement.

This is an alternative to relinquishing pets to a shelter which can be traumatic for both the pets and families, and places the pet at risk of euthanasia. A donation (adoption fee) is required to cover any costs incurred and adoption services. In emergency cases, temporary foster care may be provided, when available.
