Sister District is a national grassroots organization that works to ensure that all Americans have equal representation and our government works for all people, not just the minority in power. We organize volunteers into local teams based on where they live, and "sister" this deep blue energy with swing districts across the country to support strategic state races that matter. We are open to volunteers and candidates of all genders.
We have a strategic, targeted focus on critical down-ballot, state races that—if we win—will make it easier to win national elections. We support a portfolio of races, with the strategic goals of (1) flipping Republican-held state chambers (2) holding fragile Democratic majorities in state chambers, and (3) making blue inroads in badly gerrymandered states.
We’re also proud to be an organization founded and led by women, including women of color. Four out of five of us quit our jobs to be with Sister District full time.
The Sister District Project activates the power, passion, and creativity of volunteers to win elections and turn states blue.
By 2020, the Sister District Project will lead the movement to turn state legislatures blue and ensure fair redistricting by empowering an enduring community of volunteers who are formidable in their ability to help Democrats win elections.
