“Sullivan 180” is a newly formed organization that was founded to address the overall health and wellness of Sullivan County, New York by taking a broad view of the issues and challenges impacting its residents.  The organization’s board is made up of community leaders interested in providing a better quality of life.  in the areas of public health, the environment, the arts, government, business and education.  There will also be youth representatives on the advisory board.

 Sullivan County has historically been a destination for healing. Over decades and through generation’s individuals, families and groups have come to Sullivan County to realize their best physical and spiritual health; from the fresh air and water that nourishes the body; to the peace and tranquility it provides for the soul.  In recent years, nationwide health statistics have shown that Sullivan County has opportunities for improvement in many areas. 

 For the last six years Sullivan County has been ranked 61 of 62 in health by the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation – the nation’s largest health philanthropy. The objective of “Sullivan 180” is to not only improve this ranking, develop ways to measure success outside of this ranking, and improve a variety of quality of life issues.

 “Sullivan 180” will forge a new direction for Sullivan County’s health by collaboratively working on a grassroots level with partners to identify specific initiatives; leverage resources and efforts; seek and secure funding for projects, infrastructure and programs.

 “Sullivan 180” will target specific health and wellness issues and set priorities for Sullivan County.

 “Sullivan 180” will take a broad view of the social determinants of health and make Sullivan County an environment of health and wellness by raising awareness and creating access to healthy alternatives.

“Sullivan 180” will rebrand Sullivan County as a place for health and wellness where people will want to live, work, play, invest and raise a family.
