    Alpha-1 Disease is a severely under-diagnosed genetic disorder of the liver. Approximately 25 million (or 10% of ) Americans have some form of this disease yet as few as 5% of those affected are ever diagnosed. Early detection and lifestyle adjustments can greatly improve the quality of life and survival rates of patients. The Alpha-1 Village exists to increase awareness of Alpha -1 antitrypsin deficiency and to provide educational, emotional, financial and medical support for patients and their caregivers.
