  • About Us

COVER organizes volunteers to help low-income homeowners address their most urgent home-repair and accessibility needs. Each year we complete 70+ urgent home repairs and 55+ weatherization projects in the Upper Valley with the help of hundreds of volunteers. Our homeowners include families with young children, the elderly, and those with disabilities. More than 80% of our homeowners live at or below the federal poverty level. COVER helps to prevent the displacement of low-income homeowners and their families, by enabling them to stay in their homes and in their communities.

Although COVER’s everyday work focuses on repairing homes, our overarching goal is to build community and foster hope. Each workday on a COVER site deepens the ties that we feel to our communities. Through our reciprocal service model, homeowners and their families share meals and stories, and they often work right alongside our volunteer crews. This model brings volunteers and homeowners from different walks of life together in a neighbor-to-neighbor relationship fostering goodwill and mutual understanding that cross the boundaries of class, socio-economic disparity, age, and ability/disability.
