  • About Us

Computer for Kids International, Inc. (dba COKI and COKI International) is a registered 501(c)(3) non-profit organization incorporated under Virginia State Law on July 23, 2018. It got its tax-exempt status on February 6, 2019. It was founded by Joseph Dorbor, a Liberian immigrant who moved to the United States of America in 2017.

When Joseph moved to the United States, he was shocked by the sharp contrast between life in Liberia and his new fond home, America. He initially wanted to further his education and eventually live his American dream. But he was constantly reminded of the struggles of life for many in Liberia, especially children from low-income families. After nearly seven months in the United States, he decided to let go of his educational ambition to establish COKI.

The organization was founded to lead an innovative solution to improving teaching and learning in African schools. It aims to use technology as the core tool to build a strong educational foundation for children in poverty-stricken countries in sub-Saharan Africa, starting with Liberia. It supports the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goal IV, to “Ensure inclusive and equitable quality education and promote lifelong learning opportunities for all.”

The organization believes that making a measurable difference in the lives of children in desperate need of help, whose future hangs in the balance, requires well-thought-out and intentional programs for intervention. Hence, COKI has developed a three-core pillar strategy for program implementation: Network to Provide, Partner to Expand and Engage to Educate.

    Vision and Mission

COKI’s vision is to be the premier institution for education reform in Africa.

We aim to mobilize computers and other educational technologies and resources for children in under-resourced African countries to improve teaching and learning.
