About Us

PEACE (Protection, Education, Animals, Culture, Environment) is a nonprofit organization working in the Bay of Banderas and beyond to increase educational and economic opportunities through community development programs in the areas of education, environment, animal health, and economic development.

EDUCATION

The Community House Program (Casa Comunidad) works with the public school system to provide students with dynamic educational experiences; it also offers educational opportunities to youths and adults not enrolled in formal education.

Initiatives include the following:

  • After-school programs and summer camps
  • In-school workshops in science and dance
  • Continuing education for adults
  • English and computer classes

ENVIRONMENT

The Community Pride Program (Orgullo en la Comunidad) works hand in hand with town members to identify and complete beautification projects that encourage environmental health over the long term.

Initiatives include the following:

  • Work for Food, in which environmental improvement projects are completed in exchange for food
  • Recycling
  • Community Cleanups
  • Community Garden

ANIMAL HEALTH

The Help the Animals Program (Ayuda a los Animales) responds to the challenge of Mexico's large population of unwanted and unhealthy pet animals.

Initiatives include the following:

  • Weekly free spay/neuter clinics
  • Community-wide education about the humane treatment of animals

ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT

The Know More Microfinance Program (Sé Más Microfinanzas) offers financial education and group loans to support local micro-entrepreneurs.
