Citizens Coal Council

  • Mission

Citizens Coal Council’s mission is to inform, empower and work for and with communities affected by the mining, processing and use of coal.

    About Us

A network of over 50 local and national groups (and hundreds of individuals) covering every coalfield region of the country, Citizens Coal Council (CCC) advocates for full enforcement of the federal Surface Mining Control and Reclamation Act (SMCRA), the primary federal law that regulates the environmental effects of coal mining in the United States, and its delegated state programs. Our goal is to protect communities and the environment from the deleterious impacts of coal and to secure a cleaner, healthier future.
