About Us

Martin’s House & Barn provides an array of services through a single point of entry with a dignified approach to address immediate and long-term needs on a four-acre rural complex. The Family Shelter in Martin’s House provides a safe haven for families struggling with homelessness. The Food Pantry is located in the Barn and supported by local businesses, farms, caring donors, and the Maryland Food Bank. Regular programming during Food Pantry hours allows clients to access information on community services, health information, educational opportunities, and life skills classes.

Founded in 1983 as St. Martin’s Barn by the Benedictine Sisters of Ridgely, Maryland, Martin’s House & Barn provides a safety net for individuals and families needing special support during difficult times in their lives. A non-denominational non-profit that has served the poor and homeless on the Eastern Shore for almost 40 years, Martin’s House & Barn not only provides essential shelter, food, and clothing to those in need, but also helps clients find resources to overcome barriers to self-sufficiency.
