The Mobile Pinhole Project

  • About Us

The Mobile Pinhole Project engages youth across the city of Los Angeles in hands-on, day-long photography workshops in their own neighborhoods using the VanCam – a van turned into a giant pinhole camera. The VanCam encourages youth to literally go inside the mechanism of photography, working together to create a photograph that frames questions of identity, culture, and place. This instructional tool is emblematic of the program’s goal - access. The Mobile Pinhole Project focuses on making photography and visual expression geographically, technologically, and conceptually accessible to youth of all backgrounds.
