Empower Media Exchange

Empower Media Exchange is a mission-based nonprofit dedicated to strengthening the local news ecosystem through media literacy training, workforce development and strategic narrative support.

Empower Media Exchange (EMX) is a Colorado-based 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization working to strengthen local news ecosystems and build community trust through ethical, inclusive storytelling. Founded by award-winning journalist Ruby Jones, EMX connects community voices with professional media platforms to ensure that stories from underrepresented neighborhoods, cultures and generations are seen and heard.

Through programs like Front Range Focus, The Exchange Podcast, the CityStory Project, and the Community Information Commons, EMX partners with local newsrooms, nonprofits and civic organizations to make media more accessible, relatable and reflective of the communities it serves. Our initiatives train emerging storytellers, support youth and intergenerational media literacy and provide narrative development tools for nonprofit leaders working toward equity and social impact.

By combining media innovation, collaboration and education, EMX helps communities tell their own stories – and in doing so, creates a stronger, more connected Colorado.
