  • Mission

The Open Door, Inc. provides affordable, safe, and supportive homes for individuals living with HIV who are NOT eligible for more traditional housing programs. We also provide representative payee services to individuals who experience housing instability but may not need the additional supports of our housing program. We welcome ALL people including those who use substances, have mental health diagnoses, and have criminal histories.

    About Us

We are a non-profit organization based in Pittsburgh, helping provide housing and human services to the forgotten populations. Our organization has two offices, one of which is a residential building that provides safe and supportive housing for 14 residents. We offer a vast array of services for our participants that include representative payee, non-medical case management, housing/medical referrals, and service coordination among many others. Our organization operates under a "housing first, harm reduction" model, meaning we believe everyone deserves a safe place to sleep no matter what. We welcome each of our participants and meet them where they are at in their lives. We have been operating since 2006 and many of our residents have become successful after graduating from The Open Door, Inc.
