About Us

The Kingston Public Library Foundation (KPLF) is a private, non-profit 501(c)3 fundraising organization which works in partnership with the Kingston Public Library (kingstonpubliclibrary.org) to support, supplement, and strengthen programs and technology not funded by the town of Kingston.

History

A group of concerned Kingston citizens came together in January 2010 to form KPLF. In that first year, the Board of Directors raised community awareness of the library’s financial predicament. In 2008, the Town of Kingston was forced to cut the library’s budget by 10 percent, although the library only takes two percent of the towns’ tax dollars. These cuts put the library in danger of losing its Massachusetts state library accreditation. The foundation’s fundraising efforts filled the gap of inadequate town funding. We now move forward to provide additional funding for innovative programming while building an endowment for the library.
