  • Mission

We aim to restore the Cozumel coral reefs while advancing coral research and fostering marine educational programs.

    About Us

Dr. German Mendez established the Cozumel Coral Reef Restoration Program in 2017 to address the damage inflicted on Cozumel's coral reefs due to unsustainable development, excessive tourism, and climate change.

The program focuses on cultivating and restoring damaged corals in their aquarium and coral garden, subsequently transplanting them onto the Villablanca Reef. To date, they have constructed 29 coral restoration platforms and successfully planted over 10,000+ coral fragments.

Furthermore, the program conducts research on coral reproduction, diseases, and water contamination. They also offer educational programs to both tourists and locals, empowering them to actively participate in the protection and regeneration of their precious coral reefs.
