Faces of Postpartum Inc

  • Mission

Faces of Postpartum has for mission to tell the story of every person who carried a child (to term or not), and/or adopted, to come together and open up about the postpartum period, parenthood, gender, race, class issues, sexuality, breastfeeding, abortion, relationship, birth, adoption, near-miss experiences, disability, mental health, illness, and loss.

    About Us

Founded in 2017 by Canadian-American Ariane Audet, a writer and documentary photographer, Faces of Postpartum has morphed into a catalog of words, images, and resources for and from all parents and caregivers: biological, adoptive, surrogate, or those who carried a little angel.

We believe that the term postpartum deserves better than referring solely to depression. Being postpartum is a universal period shared by millions, with its unique and (im)perfect variations.

The goal of this project is to provide a safe space for those who believe that storytelling can heal and prevent trauma. It is also a place where art, evidence-based science, and intersectional advocacy collide. It casts a wide net to showcase the faces and voices of those who might not always have the spotlight. Every story, as universal as might be, is unique, powerful, and telling of this little thing we call postpartum.
