About Us

The Erik E. and Edith H. Bergstrom Foundation’s mission is to increase access to contraceptives and safe abortion services in the United States, Latin America, the Caribbean, and 9 countries in East Africa (Uganda, Burundi, Ethiopia, Kenya, Malawi, Mozambique, Rwanda, Tanzania, and South Sudan).

The Foundation is committed to working with organizations that safeguard and bolster the sexual and reproductive health and rights of hard-to-reach populations and marginalized groups. We partner with large international organizations, like MSI Reproductive Choices, FOS Feminista, International Planned Parenthood Federation, Ipas, and others, as well as grassroots and growing NGOs throughout the areas where we work. The Foundation currently is operated by seven employees and makes grants of roughly $10 million annually to 65 projects spanning 20 countries.
