Burlington County College Bonner AmeriCorps Program

Burlington County College is a comprehensive community college that is committed to providing students access to an affordable and high quality education. The college recently became a Bonner AmeriCorps Leader school, and in our first year we recruited a group of college students who are actively engaging in community service by working with local non-profit organizations. This year we partnered with two local Head Start centers, our local animal shelter, and a mentoring program where students work with children who are struggling to find success in their foster care placements. Although we are currently a small program, the college is looking to expand this program by increasing the number of AmeriCorps members, adding additional community partner sites, and organizing campus-wide and community-wide events that support our goal of engaging students in community service and service learning projects.
