  • About Us

RAMP (the Rockin' Appalachian Mom Project) envisions a poverty-free Appalachia. The organization was launched in response to a documentary by Diane Sawyer that traced the chronic poverty anchored in one of the poorest counties in America, Martin County, Kentucky. Founded in 2009, RAMP’s response has evolved from a short-term effort to deliver emergency food and basic supplies to a long-term, community-driven, results-oriented commitment. RAMP's mission is now to connect resources and facilitate action to build nutritionally secure and economically robust communities, focusing on food security and economic development in rural Appalachia.
