Stratford/Perth Shelterlink

Stratford/Perth Shelterlink is a homeless and at-risk of homelessness youth shelter, outreach and advocacy program for the youth of Perth County. The organization runs Living Options for Youth (LOFY), a transitional hostel designed to move youth off of the streets and into a more stable independent living situation. LOFY provides supportive staff, community referals, LIFE skills training and a safe enviorment for youth to regroup and get back on track. Shelterlink also manages the Emergency Community Placement for Perth County to ensure that any at-risk youth are able to find a safe place to stay for the night; whether it is in a local motel or in LOFY. Our third program is the Housing Support and Prevention program that works with youth moving into an independent living situation to ensure that they have the resources, connections and information they need to live in a successful and suitable enviroment. By working with youth at all stages of risk; before they become homeless, if they are homeless, or if they are moving into a new home, Shelterlink hopes to make transitions and adjustments easier and to prevent youth from ending up on the street or in unsafe living situations. By providing support, LIFE skills training and community referrals, Shelterlink also hopes to help youth meet all of their needs and address all of the underlying issues to prevent the youth from ending up back on the street or in an unsafe social situation. Our vision is to help youth become successful contributing members of our community, and in the process, build a stronger, healthier community for everyone.
