Based at schools or community centers in Humboldt County,California, RCAA Straight Up AmeriCorps members work as a team to create projects and activities that increase the school success of youth and better connect them with their schools and community. AmeriCorps members function as positive role models and mentors for disengaged youth, involving them in enriching activities, which impact their school and future success. AmeriCorps members in our program earn a living allowance of $11,475 per year plus an education award of $4725 to pay off student loans or go to college. We serve youth in pre K- high school, so there are opportunities for people with work and/or volunteer experiences at different grade levels. Apply now for Positions that start August 15, 2006. Commitment is approximately 40 hours per week until July 16, 2007.
