  • About Us

OBUGS is a 13-year-old nonprofit organization working in West Oakland, California. The vision of OBUGS is to empower children to take a hands-on approach to their health and their community. Through our programs, they grow, cook, and eat fresh fruits and vegetables in safe and verdant gardens, they develop ecoliteracy, self-confidence and life skills through interactions with caring adults. We approach the issues of food security and environmental justice, positive child-development and community building through a hands-on, replicable model involving children and their families.
