Philadelphia Black Women's Health Project

About Us

Founded in 1983, The Philadelphia Black Women’s Health Project (PBWHP) is a private, nonprofit, community-based organization. Our governance, administrative and program delivery staff are Black women who are committed to reversing the pervasive and negative health care trends for Black women and the related impact of health disparities on their families and communities. We as Black women must define, promote, and maintain the physical, mental, and spiritual well being of Black women through education, training and advocacy. With offices in North and West Philadelphia, PBWHP is known by residents, service providers, community groups and clergy for its health promotion activities for Black women and teens in Philadelphia. In the past year we served thousands of Philadelphia residents through workshops, symposiums, community events, and health fairs with over 40 percent of those served recipients of public assistance.
