  • Mission

SAWs Virginia builds custom designed, wooden wheelchair ramps for impoverished persons with long-term, ambulatory disabilities in the counties surrounding Fredericksburg City as well as the city. Our mission is to restore the freedom, independence and dignity of impoverished ambulatory disabled persons allowing them to access medical services more easily, improve the safety of their home, reconnect with their community and age-in-place regardless of race, ethnicity, gender, gender identity, sexual orientation, religion or creed.

    About Us

SAWs Virginia was launched in 2019 in Planning District 16 and is solely dedicated to providing wheelchair ramps to create safe access to the homes of the impoverished, long-term ambulatory disabled. The ramps often give the user the freedom to stay in their homes instead of being relocated to a healthcare facility or family member's home and remain in their community. Preference is given to veterans and first responders. in the years since launch, we have installed over 150 ramps impacting hundreds of family members and caregivers. The need is great and demand is increasing. Our reward is in the words of those we serve: "Thank you all so much for your hard work on my ramp. It has made such an improvement in my life. There are no words to express my gratitude. Thank you all from the bottom of my heart. May God continue to bless each and every one of you. You are all amazing!" - Doretta S.
