The mission of Loved Twice is to clothe newborns in need with quality reused baby clothing for the first year of life. For us, even one baby going without proper clothing is one too many. We believe the community starts with serving our most vulnerable members.

Since 2005, Loved Twice has provided 41,051 newborns a full year’s worth of baby clothes, helping vulnerable families meet their basic needs while keeping over 410,510 pounds of clothing out of landfills. This includes 3,078,825 essential garments recycled into underserved communities with an estimated retail value of $10,775,887.

Each year, we collect approximately 700,000 essential garments. They are packed into "wardrobes-in-a-box" in that each box contains enough clothing to keep a baby warm and clean through their first year of life. Each box contains 75 essential gently used garments in sizes 0-12 months.

Loved Twice’s program provides a year’s worth of clothing for at-risk newborns. Loved Twice collects gently used baby clothing by partnering with local businesses, schools, churches, and parenting groups to host clothing drives.

Loved Twice provides a critical basic need (baby clothes in sizes 0-12 months) to newborns and their families living in poverty in one of the nation’s most expensive regions, the San Francisco Bay area. While the arrival of a new baby is perhaps the most joyful event that there is for any family, for families living in poverty, the happiness of a new baby is often accompanied by the overwhelming stress of struggling to provide for their child. Many families in poverty don’t have a stable place to live, a supportive family, or a steady income. These parents face hard choices about covering basic expenses with scarce resources, which in turn affects their ability to bond with the new baby and support their child’s healthy development. The average household income for the mothers receiving a Loved Twice box is less than $16,000. For a family of four, living in poverty means their annual household income is less than $24,250, and all of Loved Twice’s clients live below 200% of the national poverty level. The majority are single mothers and are uninsured.
