OWNCS Education Corporation

Our World Neighborhood Charter Schools (OWNCS) is a group of three free public charter schools authorized by SUNY, Charter Schools Institute with the Board of Trustees of he OWNCS Education Corporation. OWNCS has a very successful academic program based on progressive pedagogical principles implemented and created by expert educators. OWNCS is committed to providing a rigorous curriculum in a caring and supportive environment to all students. Key to the success of the schools and its students is the determination to create a diverse community of learners and educators who understand that academic success can only be achieved if each child believes in himself or herself and has a cadre of supportive adults crafting learning experiences that capitalize on real world experiences. All our students must leave our schools with the keys to future success, happiness and productivity.

The group of three charter schools are all located in Queens, NY. OWN 1 is a K-8 school located on two campuses in Astoria and open since 2002. OWN 2 opened its doors in 2018 in the Howard Beach area of Queens and will grow from a K-2 school to a K-5 program in coming years. OWN 3 was just approved and will open its doors in September 2019 as a K-1 in the Long Island City area of Queens.
