THRD Alliance works to promote equity and justice in
Nepal by seeking redress for human rights violations (including torture,
extra-judicial executions, excessive use of force by security forces during
protests and accusations of witchcraft) and discrimination (such as that
of gender, caste, ethnicity and low socio-economic background). This redress is
sought through legal work (in the form of direct legal assistance to victims or
strategic litigation at the Supreme Court) and active international and local advocacy informed by research
to champion legal and structural reform and its effective implementation.
The
work is focussed in the Terai region, which is home to more than half of the
population, and where many of the resident communities have been historically
marginalised and excluded.
