About Us

Overview:

Founded in 1985 by Westmoreland UCC, the Westmoreland Service Corps is all about service, community, simple living and personal growth.

Service. The program matches five fellows whose interests, training and career goals align with the needs of agencies doing work in social service, health care, housing, education, advocacy and more.

Community. The fellows cultivate an intentional community together and live in a shared home (a former parsonage) just a few steps from Washington, DC in Bethesda, Maryland.

Simple living. Fellows receive a modest stipend and health insurance from their respective agencies and pay minimal rent. Travel, commuting costs, and utilities are covered.

Personal growth. A community counselor meets and works with the group weekly. The program also includes three weekend retreats with Board members to provide fellows with opportunities for personal and spiritual growth and future career and calling discernment.

All persons, regardless of faith, are welcome to apply.
