Horizons Bridgeport

  • About Us

Horizon Bridgeport has been formed to dramatically expand the Horizons program in the City of Bridgeport.

Horizons is a nationally recognized, tuition-free academic and enrichment program serving low-income students. Horizons has a proven track record of boosting educational achievement, fostering social and emotional development, and broadening student opportunity through out-of-school time (OST) learning and enrichment opportunities that take place at host institutions. Bridgeport Is currently served by two Horizons sites: Horizons Greens Farms Academy (HGFA), which opened in 2000 and Horizons Sacred Heart University (HSHU), which opened in 2010.

Horizons Bridgeport will expand from two independent sites to four regionally coordinated sites over the next two to three years, eventually enabling 1,000+ Bridgeport students to participate in the Horizons curriculum, an increase of nearly 250% from current levels. Horizons Bridgeport will provide centralized infrastructure to the four sites, facilitating the sharing of best practices, enhancing collaboration and maximizing economies of scale. In pursuing this ambitious expansion, Horizons Bridgeport will leverage the success of HGFA and HSHU, Horizons National as well other chapters which have pursued similar regional growth.
