  • Mission

Old Westbury Gardens seeks to inspire appreciation and knowledge of the best qualities exemplified in the American country estate of the early 20th century through faithful preservation of its landscape and gardens, architecture and collections.

    About Us

Old Westbury Gardens attracts 80,000 visitors each year, and our industrious corps of approximately 150 volunteers is a large factor in our charm and appeal.

Old Westbury Gardens could not function without our volunteers who work in various roles: gardeners, docents, receptionists, clerical assistants, and sales associates in the gift and plant shop. In addition, we are looking for volunteers who can help with several of our special events. Our current volunteer staff works at least four hours a week during our April-October season, contributing a minimum of fifty hours a year. In some positions, the volunteer may be asked to come in during our off-season- Sundays in November, Holiday Celebration, and Winter Open Days.
