San Mateo County Bird Alliance

  • Mission

Mission Statement: San Mateo County Bird Alliance protects native birds and other wildlife and their ecosystems in San Mateo County by engaging people of all ages in conservation, education, advocacy, and enjoyment.

    About Us

Formerly known as Sequoia Audubon Society, San Mateo County Bird Alliance is a community-based 501(c) 3 nonprofit organization and an official chapter of the National Audubon Society. We were established in 1949 to serve San Mateo County.

We offer free field trips to create an inclusive environment where birders of all experience levels can build community through shared exploration. Whether you’re a curious first-timer or a longtime member, you’ll find a warm welcome. We also offer monthly talks with engaging speakers. Our outreach committee is active with presentations to preschoolers, community groups, and events, and the conservation committee is actively engaged in several peninsula cities, suggesting ways new developments can create more bird-friendly communities.
