About Us

The Health Center Association of Nebraska (HCAN), a non-profit primary care organization whose mission is to enhance and expand access to quality, community-responsive health care for Nebraska’s medically underserved and uninsured. Members of HCAN are Community Health Centers (CHCs) providing medical, dental, and mental health services for over 63,000 Nebraskans. Organized in 2011, Health Center Association of Nebraska serves the needs of the state’s six federally qualified health centers in a variety of ways:

  • Develop partnerships among members and key stakeholders for primary health care services
  • Promote workforce recruitment and retention
  • Provide technical assistance and training to member staff and boards
  • Educate the public on the mission and value of community health centers
  • Network with state health centers and primary care organizations nationwide for excellence and health equity
