About Us

JayDoc Free Clinic serves a significant role in the Kansas City community. Simultaneously providing completely free health care to those in need and a unique educational opportunity for the students of the University of Kansas Medical Center (KUMC), JayDoc has continually grown and developed since its start in 2003. These two functions are paramount to our mission and future. We are a 501(c)3 supported by grants and the generous donations of those who stand by our purpose. It has been estimated that JayDoc saved the health care industry $1.67 million in 2009, yet our operating budget is only $125,000 a year because of the large volunteer base that provides the care to over 2500 patients a year. Students of the University of Kansas School of Medicine, as well as physicians around the community, selflessly offer their time to engage in an educational opportunity within a framework of service. Each decision made by our Executive Board, also entirely made up of medical students, is focused on maintaining this structure. It is this relationship that makes JayDoc a one-of-a-kind clinic in the nation, entirely student run and organized.
