Court Appointed Special Advocates speak up for children in the system. Each year in the U.S. over half a million children are removed from their families and placed in foster care. Our local organization meets the state and national requirements and our volunteers are a part of the 33,000 people across the nation who are speaking up for those children. We are a non-profit organization. We do fund raising events and are one of the local agencies that receives funding from Area United Way.
The Court Appointed Special Advocates project of the Thirty-Second Judicial Circuit of Missouri (includes Bollinger, Cape Girardeau, and Perry Counties), provide well trained, court-appointed volunteer advocates to serve as independent monitors and advocates for abused and neglected children in and out of foster care, under the jurisdiction of the Thirty-Second Judicial Circuit Juvenile Court. The ultimate goals are to insure that children's immediate and long term needs are met while in foster care; that a healthy, permanent placement is secured for each child in a timely fashion; to improve laws, policies and procedures that impact children; and to heighten public awareness and response to the needs of abused and neglected children.
