Mission Statement:

The Long Beach Camerata Singers (LBCS) is dedicated to excellence in choral music. We enrich the lives of our community and performers through a broad spectrum of repertoire, innovative programming, and arts education.

About:

July 1, 2017 marks the beginning of Dr. James K. Bass’ appointment as the Long Beach Camerata Singers’ Artistic Director. Dr. Bass was appointed Professor and Director of Choral Studies at UCLA in July 2016.

Formerly at the University of South Florida (Tampa) since 2010 as Associate Professor, Bass also served as Artistic Director of the Master Chorale of Tampa Bay, the artistic partner of The Florida Orchestra. He is the Associate Conductor, Director of Education Outreach and Singer for the Professional Chamber Choir, Seraphic Fire.

Camerata Singers is a fully auditioned 90-voice ensemble, including 12 paid professional singers. Camerata Singers is now supported by a part-time staff of five. As testimony to its artistic excellence, Camerata Singers became the artistic partner of the Long Beach Symphony Orchestra and Music Angelica.

LBCS performs four major concerts a year and is resident at the Beverly O’Neal Theater, part of the Long Beach Arts and Entertainment Center.
