About Us

The UW Center for Human Rights (UWCHR) spans departments, schools, and the three campuses of the University of Washington to bring together faculty and students from a variety of disciplines whose work focuses on human rights issues. Faculty associates come from the Bothell and Tacoma campuses as well as the Seattle campus. They come from various schools and colleges, including the College of Arts and Sciences, the Jackson School of International Studies, the Law School, the Evans School of Public Affairs, the Medical School, the School of Social Work, the College of Education, and the University Libraries. Departments and programs represented include political science; law, societies & justice; philosophy; anthropology; geography; sociology; comparative literature; sociology; global health; women’s studies; and the program on values in society. The Center is committed to engaged collaboration with community partners and policymakers as well as to pursuing academic explorations of global issues.
