About Us

Frankfurt Zoological Society (FZS) is one of Europe’s oldest international conservation organizations, founded in 1858 and based in Frankfurt, Germany. With projects in 18 countries on four continents, FZS’s mission is to conserve wildlife and ecosystems focusing on protected areas and outstanding wild places. FZS prioritizes area size, biodiversity and wilderness, and specializes in long-term, field-based, front-lines conservation working in close partnership with national wildlife authorities. Frankfurt Zoological Society in the United States (FZS-US) was founded in 2007 to promote wildlife conservation efforts in FZS project areas. FZS-US’s goal is to work with and for people to secure biodiversity in globally important wilderness areas, and to facilitate US support for these efforts.
