Better Than Yesterday Mentoring Inc. (BTYM) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to breaking generational cycles of poverty, academic underperformance, and community disconnection by equipping youth and families with the skills, knowledge, and identity-strengthening tools they need to thrive.

Better Than Yesterday Mentoring Inc. (BTYM) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization based in Prince George’s County, Maryland, dedicated to breaking generational cycles of poverty, academic underperformance, and community disconnection. We believe every young person and family has the potential to thrive when equipped with the right skills, knowledge, and support system.

Our mission is to empower youth and families to become the best version of themselves through mentorship, personal development, life skills training, and financial education. We serve:

• High school students (ages 14–18) and recent graduates through our Empower360 program — building identity, leadership, resilience, and practical skills for life beyond school.
• Parents and caregivers through our Elevate360 program — offering tools for reparenting, breaking generational cycles, strengthening family relationships, and improving financial wellness.

We are guided by core values of integrity, empowerment, community, and transformation. Our approach is holistic and relationship‑driven — we go beyond surface‑level programming to create deep, lasting change in the lives of those we serve.

BTYM partners with schools, libraries, community organizations, and financial institutions like SECU to provide engaging workshops, mentorship opportunities, and real‑world learning experiences. Whether it’s helping a teen discover their purpose, guiding a parent through new strategies to support their child, or teaching financial literacy, our goal is the same: to help every participant be better than they were yesterday.
